Is The LPGA Commissioner To Blame?

Carolyn Bivens is the commissioner of the LPGA and is currently in the hot
seat.  The LPGA is losing tournaments and sponsors and everyone is losing
confidence in their leader.  But is Carolyn Bivens the problem or the
solution?

Fifteen members of the LPGA met recently and sent a letter to the LPGA board
of directors to request Carolyn Bivens to step down.  Who do they think will lead
the LPGA now while the country is still in a recession?

Maybe they should look to the PGA for answers to their problems.  What do they have that the LPGA does not?  Let's talk about the many reasons the LPGA should learn from the PGA.

Tim Finchem verses Carolyn Bivens
Tim Finchem has been at the helm of the PGA for many years.  It takes time
to build relationships with sponsors and to have a business platform that
works.  Carolyn Bivens is a businesswoman and is trying to build the LPGA
brand.  This takes time.

Tiger Woods verses Lorena Ochoa
Tiger Woods verses Lorena Ochoa - well is there any comparison?  The Tiger
affect in golf and in sponsor monies is outrageous.  Sponsors want Tiger's
name on their product and they want Tiger at their tournaments.  They know
this will put money in their pockets.  The LPGA used to have Nancy Lopez.
But Lorena does not pack the same punch as Tiger.  Now maybe if Michelle Wie
wins on the LPGA tour, I think the tour would start to prosper as well.

Men watching the PGA verses women watching the LPGA
Men will come watch the PGA tour and they will go see an LPGA tour.  But
many women do not support women's events.  I don't know why this is but it
is true.  In order for the LPGA to thrive women need to support other women.
Bottom line.

The international influence on the LPGA tour
Sponsors want the best to win and so they do.  The international influence of
players on the LPGA tour may hurt our sponsors here in America but oversees
we will prosper.  Many of the players who wish Carolyn Bivens to
resign are the ones who need to buckle down and play better.  Don't get me
wrong, I think when a player wins they need to speak English on American
soil.  These players are expected to play in pro-ams and be friendly with
the people who are sponsoring the tournaments. The LPGA is very open to the public while the PGA is somewhat standoffish. The LPGA should take advantage of this opportunity.
